VW T6 Repair Adventure!
Recently, a customer brought in their VW T6 van, diagnosed with a faulty heater matrix. The job was a big one, requiring the entire dashboard to come out. However, once we removed the dash, we discovered the matrix was perfectly fine!
What We Found Instead
- Previous Repair with Zip Ties: To our surprise, someone had previously removed the dash, spent hours, and used zip ties to fix an issue. Unbelievable, right?
- Stuck Motor Flaps: The actual problem lay with the motor flaps, which were jammed.
- Broken Temperature Adjustment Gear: The gear was snapped in half and sticking awkwardly out towards the windscreen.
How We Fixed It
- We ordered a new motor flap for the customer.
- For the broken gear, we carbon fiber 3D-printed a replacement, as this small part isn’t sold separately.
- Once everything was repaired and reassembled, the van was back to perfect working order.
Customer Experience
The job took around 10 hours, and since the customer was a childminder, they had to arrange alternative transport. Throughout the day, we kept her fully informed to help with her planning. In the end, she was thrilled with the results—and her husband is already booking his T6 Transporter for additional work!
