VW T6 Front and Rear Optical Parking Sensors provide a visual display of the Vehicle on the radio or navigation system screen, showing the vehicles position and distance from obstacles. The location of any obstacle within range of the ultrasonic sensors is highlighted on screen.Rear optical parking sensors will mute your Radio helping you to focus on parking.

If your VW Transporter T6 does have an Aftermarket Multimedia or Navigation Fitted, we may need to fit a CAN  interface that will work with your radio, steering wheel controls and provide an optical display for the parking sensors, cost may very. In many cases the audio installer will choose to fit the cheaper interface and unfortunately the only way to get OPS on the Multimedia screen is by replacing the basic CAN interface.

Front and Rear OPS parking sensors will activate automatically with reverse gear engagement or via the PDC button on the centre console. The buzzer will then beep once and the system will stay active as long as reverse gear selected. Logically the closer you are to an obstacle, the faster it beeps, finally when you're around 1 foot away from said obstacle the beep will become constant.

If there is no obstacle detected the Front and Rear OPS system switch off automatically after several seconds of deselecting reverse gear or when you travel forwards at approximately 6mph or more.

You can mute the acoustic signal of the VW optical parking system by pressing the MUTE button on the radio screen or navigation system. The mute function will be cancelled if the OPS is Switched off and on again.

Also, Front and Rear OPS Parking sensors work in conjunction with the Rear view OEM VW Camera, If you have both fitted, selecting reverse gear would switch the rear camera and OPS On. The parking sensor overlay will normally be displayed on the left hand side of the screen. This may work differently with an aftermarket Navigation, however in general most of the later Multimedia/ Navigation System will either display both the camera and parking sensors or give you the option to switch between the two.
