Genuine VW OPS Parking Sensors for VW Amarok
We are please to offer Genuine optical parking sensors for all models of VW Amarok.
It is possible to retrofit rear optical sensors only, or upgrade to include front OPS sensors if the rear sensors are already factory fitted. Unfortunately, the 1st generation Amaroks rear bumper is made of steel therefore its not feasible to cut holes in it to accommodate new sensors. A new/replacement rear bumper will be needed, we can either supply new or if you're happy to source a replacement then please let us know?
The VW Amarok Front and Rear OPS system provide a visual display of the Vehicle on the radio or navigation system screen, showing the vehicles position and distance from obstacles. The location of any obstacle within range of the ultrasonic sensors is highlighted on the screen. The Rear optical parking sensors will mute your Radio helping you to focus on parking.
The Front and Rear OPS parking sensors activate automatically with reverse gear engaged or via the PDC button on the centre console. The buzzer will then beep once and the system will stay active as long as reverse gear is selected. Logically the closer you are to an obstacle, the faster it beeps. Finally when you're around 1 foot away from said obstacle the beep becomes constant.
If there is no obstacle detected the Front and Rear OPS system will switch off automatically after several seconds of deselecting reverse gear or when you travel forwards at approximately 6mph or more.
You can mute the acoustic signals of the VW optical parking system by pressing the MUTE button on the radio screen or navigation system. The mute function will be cancelled if the OPS is Switched off and on again.
The front and rear OPS Parking sensors will work in conjunction with the Rear view OEM VW Camera, If you have both fitted, selecting reverse gear will switch both the rear camera and parking sensors on. A picture of the optical sensors will normally be displayed on the left hand side of the screen. This may work differently with an aftermarket Navigation, however in general most of the later Multimedia/ Navigation System will either display both the rear camera and parking sensors at the same time or give you the option of switching between the two.
